Dr. Aaron Beck on the Therapeutic Alliance

Students that enter doctoral studies in psychology soon discover that counseling principles (i.e., the counselor's positive disposition, method of feedback, and collaboration with the client, etc.) are key in their practice as clinicians. To emphasize this point further, I include a video segment that discusses these valuable tenets of effective counseling.

Dr. Aaron Beck, the world renown pioneer of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, discusses the importance of the counselor-client relationship. Maintaining authentic and convergent relationships with clients is an imperative aspect throughout one's training in psychology. It is wise to begin learning how to work well with others, which includes clients, colleagues, and professionals/students belonging to other disciplines (i.e., sociology, medicine, etc.).

To learn more about Dr. Aaron Beck, I provide an extensive video file on his legacy and experience.
