National Reading Month-Ready to Finish Books in a Flash?

Two Great Products, I love them Both!

March is National Reading Month.  I encourage every viewer to find some reading material that you enjoy and get reading!  For those that do not love reading, consider purchasing a Kindle Fire product.  I love my Kindle Fire HD because it reads my textbooks aloud to me.  In fact, I can change the speed to go faster during those times when I want to really get ahead in my classes.  Another wonderful aspect of using a Kindle Fire is that the book will go to the next page for you.  You do not have to wait for the reading to stop on one page before swiping your fingers to go to the next page.  So, sometimes I sit and let the book read to me while I lay down pondering the meaning of the text.

If you are not a fan of Kindle, another solution is to purchase an iPad or, if you have one, use your iPad Speak Screen function and/or Voiceover function.  Some publishers do not allow certain Kindle books to have text-to-speech enabled, so in those instances, I turn to my iPad to help me read my textbooks.  I love purchasing e-books from VitalSource and CourseSmart (must pull up CourseSmart on Safari for text-to-speech function to work).  With VitalSource, I can pull up the app on my tablet and use the Voiceover -or- Speak Screen function (can use either, based on preference) to enable me to hear the textbook as I follow along with my eyes.

Are you skeptical of e-books?  Then perhaps you can get physical copies of your book when you feel it is a must.  In my case, I love purchasing e-books.  Sometimes, I purchase both e-books and physical copies when the e-book comes up too small to highlight or write in the margins.  I hope this helps some student because I can say that it has helped me finish my required readings early.

I recall having to read SEVEN 250-350 paged books for one class.  I was able to finish all of the books in LESS THAN A WEEK because I chose to speed up the pace that my Kindle Fire HD table reads to me.  I spent several hours each day listening to my book while on break, but the good news is that I finished all the books before my class started. Yay!  I have done the same thing with my iPad.  I read in the airport and airplane, with earplugs of course, at Doctor's office, etc.

If you want a similar experience with getting ahead in your classes, then either purchase or start using the device that you have with the text-to-speech feature. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
