What Do You Need to Know about Social Psychology?

I posted the videos below to give you an introduction into Social Psychology.  This is an area of psychology that has applicability to many career fields and does not require you as a student or early career professional to only work in a psychology setting.  Psychology is vastly diverse because it incorporates many constructs like behavior, motivation, cognition, sensing, knowing, critical thinking, attitudes, emotional literacy/intelligence, coping skills, psychopathology, mindfulness, aptitude, achievement, organizational culture, personality, values, etc.

Social Psychology discusses many of these topics; although, some are emphasized more than others.  The great news is that there is practice diversity.  Thus, your preferred specialties can be utilized in settings that are tradition to psychology or not so typical setting where psychology graduates are usually hired.  Psychology often requires graduates to use creativity in finding the right work setting that is unique and fitting for the individual.  While there is no problem with working in strictly mental health settings, graduate students commonly wonder about using their talents in a setting that they feel will best bring out their talents and interests in addition providing the opportunity to help individuals, groups, or organizations achieve their goals.

For video two, skip to roughly 12 minutes into the video to avoid chatter in the classroom.
