Using Quizlet to Study for the GRE
Most doctoral programs in
psychology require the GRE; however, not all of universities list this
exam as a requirement. For those students who plan to attend an
institution that requires the GRE for admission, then listen carefully.
Students can study for the GRE by using Quizlet as a supplement. The key word is supplement.
Countless students have already posted hundreds and sometimes thousands
of GRE vocabulary words on Quizlet (study guides available by practice
book brand like Barron, Princeton Review, etc.).
You can join quizlet by creating a free account via computer, iPhone app, iPad app, Android app, or other device. The account does offer privacy features for students. Next, search the exam you are looking to take, namely the GRE. Furthermore, you can add the flash card sets to your profile so that you can study them later. Interestingly, I have found that Quizlet offers study guides for most of my major text books!! I remember using Quizlet up until the time to actually take the CPCE exam. Of course, I did pass that exam. I used my Quizlet iPhone app to study, while I let a friend use my iPad to study using the Quizlet app. Yet, the Quizlet app will allow you to study for tests, but you cannot print using it.
I know that many of you may know about flash cards, but Quizlet is wonderful because you can print out the cards in the form of a study guide. Quizlet gives you several options for how to print out your document. Personally, I recommend printing using the "glossary" print option. Additionally, Quizlet has several other cool features, such as regular test (written, true or false, matching, and multiple choice) mode and games test modes (space race and scatter).
If you are wondering if this site is helpful, then let me tell you that it can be helpful for those who study consistently. Also, keep in mind that you must use other study aids in addition to Quizlet. Do not forget to check the content of the study guide you are using. You must be diligent to ensure that the information you are studying is accurate and up-to-date.
Good Luck to all you exam takers!
